Match Preview
Afghanistan made an impressive start to the series with a 38-run victory, registering their fourth consecutive win in T20Is. Batting first, they posted a competitive total of 181 runs, built around an outstanding partnership between Ibrahim Zadran and Darwish Rasooli, who scored 87 and 84 runs respectively.
In reply, West Indies struggled early as both openers were dismissed inside the powerplay, leaving the middle order with a steep task. While Sampson, Matthew Forde, and Gudakesh Motie showed some intent lower down the order, the chase was never truly within reach. Afghanistan’s spin trio of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Noor Ahmad applied consistent pressure and controlled the middle overs to seal a comprehensive win.
Ibrahim Zadran, who continued his strong recent form with an 87-run knock in the opening game, is the top choice for the captaincy role. Rashid Khan, once again pivotal with the ball after picking up two wickets, is the leading option for the vice-captaincy role.
