Both teams recorded six wins from their 10 group-stage matches, but Hobart Hurricanes finished third on the points table due to a superior net run rate, while Melbourne Stars ended the league stage in fourth place. The two sides met once earlier this season, with Melbourne Stars securing an eight-wicket victory.

With a knockout spot on the line, both teams will leave no stone unturned, as a loss here will end their campaign.
