Match Preview
Mumbai Indians Women are all set to defend their title after winning the championship last season. They will once again be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, who takes charge of the side for the fourth consecutive season. With key players like Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr in their ranks, MI will be confident of another strong campaign.
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women will be looking to put last season behind them, where they finished fourth on the points table with just three wins from eight matches. Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh remain their key players, although the team will miss the services of Ellyse Perry, who has opted out of the season due to personal reasons.
Nat Sciver-Brunt, the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 1,027 runs and also a consistent contributor with the ball with 32 wickets, stands out as the top choice for the captaincy role. Hayley Matthews, the leading wicket-taker of the competition with 41 wickets and also a reliable run-scorer with 758 runs, shapes up as the top option for vice-captaincy.
