Match Preview
UP Warriorz Women suffered a poor campaign last season, finishing at the bottom of the points table, and will be eager to put that behind them with a positive start this time around. With experienced players like Meg Lanning, Harleen Deol and Deepti Sharma in their ranks, they will be aiming for a much-improved performance in the new season.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants managed to reach the qualifiers last season with four wins from eight matches but failed to carry the momentum further after losing to Mumbai in the eliminator by 47 runs. With key players such as Beth Mooney, Ashleigh Gardner and Sophie Devine in the squad, they too will be looking to begin their campaign on a strong note.
Ashleigh Gardner, who has scored 567 runs and picked up 25 wickets in the tournament, stands out as the top choice for the captaincy role. Deepti Sharma, who has been in good form recently with 507 runs and 27 wickets to her name, shapes up as a strong option for vice-captaincy.
